They come in turbans
and Ford trucks,
I buy big house
with welfare
bucks
They come here,
we live together,
More welfare
checks,
it gets better!
Fourteen families,
they moving
in,
But neighbor's patience

Finally,

moves away,
Now I buy his house,
and then I
say,
"Find more aliens
for house to rent."
And in the
yard
I put a tent.

they just

This is my email response to my sister. I haven't sent it yet... I know Jen isn't political and she wouldn't send out something like this if she realized it was offensive. Unfortunately, I don't think she sees it.

Sorry, but I felt this was a horribly racist email Jen. Kate's parents
are immigrants (legal) and they are probably the hardest working people I know.
I think people assume that most immigrants come here just for welfare and
benefits, but that's just not the case.
No offense, but whoever created this email is an idiot. There is no such thing as The American Race, most illegals come from Mexico - not overseas. It sounds like the author has some sort of hate for Arabs if you ask me.
Illegal immigration is a serious issue in the US,
but this little poem is just plain offensive.

I know a few folks who think like this and while there is a hate element to it, there are a lot of folks who think that Illegals are coming here for the welfare system.

Ah, at least it was a close (and hopefully attentive) relation. Right after 911, I emailed everyone I knew and lamely asked them not to support revenge. I got a nasty, nasty email from an auntie who told me not to send her any "Hug a Terrorist Today tshirts". No kidding.

Well one would think that righties REALLY concerned about welfare and the public dime would at the very least educate themselves minimally on welfare elgibility and regulations. But I suppose it is easier to spread lies and ignorance than, say, READ.

I see your point dad, but the intent of this poem was to target foriegners from Europe or the Middle East, not Mexico. It's just been recirculated recently because of the immigration issue. I didn't publish it with the accompanying "smilies" so I don't think you got the full scope of how offensive it is. Like I said, sweeping generalizations about all immigrants are not only offensive but unAmerican. After all, you and I are products of immigrants, are we not?

However, no one has come up with a decent solution to that as of yet, without politicizing the hell out of it. Try deporting 12 Million people. That will cost billions. But you can't just let them stay here undocumented either. So what to do?
