I saw this story on CNN last night. I think someone may have watched A Clockwork Orange one too many times. Seriously, how does one sink so low in depravity that they get their jollies out of beating the homeless with baseball bats? Maybe the Feds should visit some local video stores to see who's been checking out Kubrick's film. They can do that under the Patriot Act, right?

1 of 3 beatings caught on Florida school's security video

FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida (AP) -- Assailants armed with baseball bats or sticks beat three homeless men in separate attacks Thursday, killing one of the victims, police said. One of the attacks was caught on a university surveillance video. Police said the attacks may be related but they aren't yet sure.

Two to four young white males were involved, police said. Officials released the surveillance video from Florida Atlantic University. It shows two men beating one of the victims with what appear to be bats.

Norris Gaynor, 45, died of his injuries, and the other two men were in serious condition at Broward General Medical Center, police said. The survivors were not identified. One of the assaults happened near the Broward Center for Performing Arts and the other was near a church.

"It is a terrible thing that happened, and they will be punished accordingly," Detective Kathy Collins told the South Florida Sun-Sentinel. She said Gaynor's death will mean homicide charges.

    This reminded me of a similar scene in the movie, The Fisher King. Young men would take out their frustrations on street people by beating them or setting them on fire.

    Life imitating art, I hope not.

    Yeah, that's the first thing I thought of too when I saw that: "Jesus! That's 'A Clockwork Orange'!" Except for the costumes, obviously, and no Ludwig Van. Saw the mugshot of the 17-year-old on a report today. Face is almost angelic.

    these idiots should be subjected the the same thing that the people felt=being beat with a bat so they will know the pain they caused and how it feels. or will they be given a light sentence and a slap on the wrist.i saw a trial where the defendants tried to lynch a black man and all of them got less than 10 yrs,i feel color of their skin got them a light sentence

Blognonymous has a great post on a new Washington Post chart that basically shows what Democrats have said all along... Abramhoff was lining three Republican pockets for every one Democrat pocket. But if you read sites like anti-Dem No Agenda or Espella Humanzee , you'll see how Republican apologists are trying to spin the whole "they did it too so it's okay" arguement. In fact, No Agenda makes no note of the blatent corruption happening on their side of the aisle. Typical. Still, I haven't heard squat from the MSM about Bush's $100,000 in campaign contributions received from the lobbyist. Of that $100,000, the Administration has agreed to return 6% of the amount to charity. That's kinda like donating a small portion of your bank robbery pot to the Red Cross.
