Jesus Camp

Anyone seen this? What are your thoughts? I was a little frightened.

Stuck at O'Hare

Yeah, so I get here to Chicago and apparently they've went and cancelled my flight this evening to Columbus. The next flight out is in the morning at 7:40... and the airline won't put people up in hotels. So I'm sitting here...camped out on a dead baggage claim belt in terminal 2. The airport staff have been as unhelpful as possible. There were supposed to be cots or something down here but I've seen none so far...just others like me...camping out on the baggage claim belts. I guess I won't be working tomorrow morning as planned.

Gotta love....

Free Wi-Fi at the airport. So I'm stuck here another two and a half hours, but it's cool. My original flight on United was delayed in Chicago, so they transferred me over to a Delta flight going straight through to LA at 7:30ish. So now, I don't have to layover in Denver at all and I'm going to land in the City of Angels an hour earlier than before... at no extra cost! It's unusually dead for this time of year. I guess most of the Christmas travelers have already flown out today or arrived earlier. There was no madhouse at the check-in counter. No long lines through the security queue..speaking of which, I was randomly selected for extra screening. I call it AAA. Airport Affirmative Action. For every Middle Easterner they pull aside for extra screening, they have to pull four caucasions out as well to avoid getting sued for racial profiling. It was okay though. I prefer they do the extra screening than not, and happily obliged. Now if there were some body cavity sea...

Athiests vs. Christians Question

I've sometimes heard, when trolling R & S, that athiests are close minded to Christian beliefs, and pretty much think that Christians are fools. So this begs a question... When The Golden Compass came out, why did so many Christian groups boycott it, claiming that it may actually be teaching athiesm to children...yet...when Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe was released a few years ago, we never heard of any athiests boycotting it's obvious teaching of Christianity to kids? So which party seems to be more open minded and understanding of the other?

A few things...

1. I'm going out west for a few days next week. I'll be flying into LAX on the 24th and driving up to Tehachapi to spend Christmas with the folks and my shorty. I'll also get to hang with my pal Ryan and his wife... sweet! I'll be returning back to the big O on Friday the 28th. It's a little shorter than I had hoped for but work politics wins out on this one. 2. Speaking of work... January 4th will be my last day at Chase. I accepted an offer with Syrus, my part-time employer and will go full time with them the following week. The upswing to that, in addition to a nice pay raise, is I'll have full access to email, Yahoo 360 and Multiply during work. Now I haven't decided if that's a good thing or a bad thing yet.

Festivus for the Rest of Us

Image
Festivus pole proposed at Green Bay City Hall GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) -- The putting up of a nativity scene at Green Bay's City Hall has prompted a tongue-in-cheek request from a suburban man for permission to display a Festivus pole on the overhang of the building's northwest entrance. The Festivus holiday created by author Daniel O'Keefe during the 1970s and popularized by comedian Jerry Seinfeld two decades later is celebrated by some both in earnest and jest on Dec. 23. The request by Sean Ryan of Allouez was made during the weekend after Green Bay City Council president Chad Fradette received the go-ahead last week from the city's advisory committee to install a nativity display at City Hall. Fradette said he proposed the display in response to criticism of a nativity display at a city park in nearby Peshtigo. A practicing Catholic who would prefer to see no religious displays at a government office, Ryan said his request to put up an undecorated six foot aluminum pol...

Ahhh bedtime....

My God, what a long day... my employer threw the annual Christmas Party at the Columbus Zoo this year. Wierd setting..yes...but they do up the zoo in lights which is pretty cool. Of course the downside is not many of the animals like the cold so they hide away. I was bummed... no alcohol. Just a standard buffett with nasty nasty food. I did get to enjoy watching Kim freak out in the reptile house. Apparently she's deathly afraid of snakes...

Jobs

Okay, so my part-time employer is asking me to go full time with them. Now if I give up working there part-time, I'll lose about 7 to 8K a year in income. They will pay a little more than my full time job does now. The thing is, I'm not happy at my full time job...but here at Syrus, I like it... it's small and the people I work with aren't pretesious jerks. The job itself is more technology based than the Chase position as well...So now I'm kind of wondering which path I should take...
